We do not allow large events at Villa Montebella.
This was probably the most spectacular villa I have ever stayed at! And the owners were lovely. The pool, the movie theater, the kitchen, the game room, everything was amazing. And it has an amazing view with beautiful sunsets. It's also right near Glen Ellen so one can grocery shop, taste wine and go out for lunch or dinner.
Several years ago my sister organized a special birthday celebratory trip to Italy for our whoie extended family. This year my wife and I are celebrating our 40th anniversary and wanted to do something similar. However, just the thought of organizing on overseas trip and vacation rental for a quite sizable family group was daunting. Not to mention the expense! After much research, we saw a VRBO ad for Villa Montebella. It looked absolutely exquisite and met all of the criteria we wanted for a special getaway. So we booked it nearly a year in advance. After spending 3 days in San Francisco, we made the easy drive up to Glen Ellen and found our way to the villa. The pictures on the website - while fabulous - don't do the place justice! It is absolutely exquisite. After winding up a steep, tree-lined driveway you are stunned as you see the first view of this magnificent estate! We were met at the villa by one of the realtors managing the property for the owners. Randy gave us a great guided tour of the property and all the information we could require to enjoy our stay. The views were magnificent from anywhere on the property. The estate is lined by lush vineyards and overlooks a magnificent valley and hills that are reminiscent of Tuscany. The multiple master suites are lavish and very comfortable, particularly in the main house. The gourmet kitchen exceeded everyone's expectations and was a joy to cook in. The 45' salt water pool, newly-refurbished tennis court, game room, exercise room, home theatre, etc.... were all absolutely amazing! And the ultimate "cool" item was the 7,000 sq. ft. wine cave! We had our 40th Anniversary dinner catered in the cave and it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The ambience, warmth, service (and food) were all absolutely incredible. And after this wonderful meal and celebration - while many of the adults retired for the evening - many more stayed up and thoroughly enjoyed the wine cave's game room! Lots of fun! I can't recommend this place more highly. It is absolutely stunning and our 3 days at Villa Montebella provided memories that we will treasure for the rest of our lives!
We wanted a beautiful place in the wine country to hold an intimate wedding ceremony and also to say farewell to California as we are planning on moving out of the state. Villa Montebella was the place to have it! It was absolutely incredible to drive up the road and see the view of the Villa up on the hill. The property is amazing!
Everyone loved the views of the beautiful Sonoma valley and hillsides. Having separate houses along with the main house was great so guests could all have some privacy. The kitchen was incredible (we spent a lot of time cooking) and so were all the different rooms/suites that everyone stayed in.
Everyone loved the wine cave which is where we had our ceremony. Did we mention the great pool, hot tub, sauna, bocce ball, tennis court, and our own theatre to watch movies! It was so fun and relaxing. We wish we could have stayed a week!
A once in a lifetime experience for sure.
We recently rented the villa for an executive offsite the team had a fantastic time! Our company is food based and we were looking for a place with a large chef's kitchen. This place was perfect for cooking our team dinners and the tranquil setting gave everyone the opportunity to relax and enjoy the spectacular surroundings. The house was fully furninshed with everything could want! A truly perfect setting!
This place in a word is magical. Certainly all the features of a multi-million dollar estate, add charm and style and you have the perfect equation in Montebella. My family of sixteen, ages 4 to 84, all had the trip of a lifetime. In fact the only problem was getting people to explore Napa and Somona, as they didn't want to leave the 22 acre estate.
If you really want to treat yourself go to Montebella!
FYI the managers, Sheryl and Randy were terrific and on 24 hour call.
From the moment I drove up the driveway, I was awestruck by the beauty of this villa. Where do I begin? We rented this resort for my birthday, inviting 6 other couples, for the weekend last spring. It was spectacular! The photos don't do it justice...you must see it in person. The main house is gorgeous, yet very comfortable, with a very large kitchen fit for entertaining. The views are absoluteley amazing from the porch swing off the kitchen, where we sat & had coffee in the mornings. The upstairs main bedroom is stunning, which is where my husband and I slept. It was nice to fall asleep to the sounds of nature. Our friends were amazed by the gorgeous suites in the other structures, all very private and quiet. But the focal point for us was the pool! Sitting outside in the sun by the pool, looking at expansive vineyards and the beauty of glen ellen....let's just say we didn't want to leave! The wine caves were very cool and would make an excellent space for some type of event. There is a hot tub, tennis courts, bocce court, wet/dry sauna and theater (wow!). There wasn't one thing we were wanting for or missing here. It was a trip of a lifetime. Well, hopefully not as our friends are begging us to rent this treasure again!
Glen Ellen is a charming small town just minutes from the city of Sonoma. Several excellent restaurants and a world class market and deli await just a mile from the street entrance and Jack London and Annadel State Parks are only a few minutes away. Be sure to try our favorite restaurant, Olive and Vine and enjoy a great wine tour at the Benziger Family Winery.
