About Richard Woodruff
Hi, my name is Richard Woodruff and I am an American born in Jersey City, NJ and now living in Santa Fe after having spent the last 28 years living in Europe. You can find me on LinkedIn and on Facebook. I own Rass Mandal and I am a 50% owner of Adobe Casitas Vacation Rentals, Inc. - a property management and short term vacation rental company. I am also a real estate broker in Santa Fe and work exclusively with buyers seeking a residence in Santa Fe.
Richard Woodruff purchased this House in 2011
Why Richard Woodruff chose Santa Fe
Rass Mandal has unique architecture and is on 10 acres with fabulous unending vistas. It is in the mountains for easy access to hiking and mountain biking yet only about 10 minutes from the center of Santa Fe. The feeling in these hills is truly refreshing and energizing!
What makes this House unique
Staying at Rass Mandal provides a unique atmosphere that is not found at most vacation rentals. The house and grounds offer abundant space for renewal & reflection as well as exercise & sharing. We have also invested in renewable Solar Technology for heating the home and the pool; keeping our environmental footprint to a minimum.

Most memorable, amazing weekend ever because of Richard’s incredible home and hospitality! The property is so far beyond even the highest expectations. Could not emphatically recommend more!
We rented this property for four days for a work retreat, and it was absolutely perfect. There were plenty of nooks and crannies for small working groups, and lots of avenues for relaxation (the hot tub, sauna, firepits, hikes). The unique architecture and furnishings inspired many new ideas and creative solutions.
We hope to be back here soon!
Wonderful stay - beautiful views - great professional kitchen - very comfortable - loved the sauna, plunge pool, and hot tub. We went in late October so could not use the pool, as it was no longer heated, or the outdoor yoga pavilion (too cold) but both are spectacularly beautiful and we look forward to returning in the summer.
Beautiful and wonderful place will be back next year
We stayed at Mass Randal for our annual girls trip Sept. 26-28th, 2019. This house is about a $12 uber/lyft ride into town. It feels very private at the top of a hill. Gate and door codes all worked well and felt secure. The owner is easy to reach and responsive.
The interior is even more eclectic than the pictures show. There are novelties in every corner, ranging from East Asian, to Indian, and oddly Victorian. If you like bright colors and images of Budah this is the place for you. The kitchen is well supplied, albeit tight if more than two people are cooking. Bedrooms, bedding and towels were also well supplied. It's worth noting that within the main house there are only two showers - this was a little challenging with 10 women but we managed.
The grounds are lovely and peaceful. The yoga pavilion is really nice but we did not use it. Overall I recommend this home...
What a spectacular wonderful spot. Words are inadequate to describe. It's like a retreat to a distant land.
Thanks for the review and I'm looking forward to your annual sojourn to Rass Mandal. Wishing you a great remainder of summer, Richard
Right from the front door of Rass Mandal, you can either hike or mountain bike the Ponderosa Ridge to Hidden Valley Road down to Wilderness Gate Road and right into town via Canyon Road or the Old Santa Fe Trail. There are so many choices to enjoy - renewing both the body and spirit! Additionally, if lucky on the walk, you may spot coyotes, mule deer and a variety of birds and birds of prey.
